Two concerned friends visit Carol after her difficult breakup, only to discover that she has found an unconventional—and extremely plastic—way of moving on.
SYNOPSIS
Concerned about how Carol is handling a recent breakup, Elizabeth and Amara arrive at her suburban home expecting to offer some much-needed support. Instead, Carol eagerly introduces them to Manny, her handsome new “boyfriend”—a chiseled department-store mannequin in a leopard-print Speedo. As Carol recounts their whirlwind romance with complete sincerity, Elizabeth struggles to comprehend what she’s seeing while Amara desperately tries to get them both out the door. But once her friends leave, Carol makes it abundantly clear that her relationship with Manny is much more serious than they realized.
Why This Film:
This film was inspired by Disney's Wizards of the Waverly Place episode where the lead, Alex Russo, transforms a mannequin into her real boyfriend. I thought, "How tragic it would be if someone believed a mannequin was a real person," and Ohh, Carol was born.
About This Film:
This film was written, filmed, and edited in November 2023.
It was filmed within eight hours including setup and take down.
I was the writer and director of this film.
