A Harry Situation

LOGLINE

Three college students perform a ritual to bring back Harper’s dearly departed Harry, but when the spell actually works, one of them discovers they seriously misunderstood exactly who—or what—they were resurrecting.

SYNOPSIS (Spoilers!)

Still grieving the loss of Harry, Harper recruits her friend Ava and an unsuspecting Selena to perform a resurrection ritual. As Harper passionately recounts everything Harry meant to her, the increasingly elaborate ceremony somehow succeeds. But when a flash of light leaves a lizard sitting in the middle of their ritual, Selena assumes the spell has gone horribly wrong. The truth is even stranger: Harry was never Harper’s boyfriend—Harry was her beloved pet lizard.

Why This Film:

I made this film because I always had an interest in the supernatural, so when brainstorming an idea for a quick 3-minute film, I wanted something simple and comedic. Inspired by shows like Disney's Wizards of the Waverly Place and ABC's Sabrina the Teenage Witch, I wanted to take that essence into a simple scene with a touch of mystery. I wove the lizard into the story because when thinking about the resourses at my disposal, I knew of a friend with a lizard, and I thought the lizard would be a hilarious final gag.
